The port comes off on the inside and tears the pads so with the new ps5 firmware they make nice 120 dollar paperweights here in canada. I've also lost 3 controllers from updating. I even used my super sharp probe master leads to check for a bridge but the only beeps I got were the 3 ground pins. There are so many screws that I'm not opening it up again until I scope the output for an ntsc signal. I'm great at smd by eye but the little 15 or so hdmi legs are at an odd angle and without a better scope I'm going to have a hard time fixing it. I added a new port to my machine as I believe the original doesn't have long enough legs for a strong mechanical connection. If your screen remains black, you'll need to continue to the next section. Until Sony releases a patch that fixes Rest Mode, you should turn it off in console settings. If your screen shows up, your black screen issue may have been caused by incorrect settings or the rest mode glitch. The process may have restored certain video/display settings back to default. Your system should restart after rebuilding the database and boot into normal operation mode.

If the black screen problem started after the console went into Rest Mode, perform the above solutions: force shut down and power cycle. The Rest Mode feature on the PS5 can cause power issues and prevent your PS5 from displaying correctly on a TV if the console cannot exit the mode properly.
